
Formerly known as Celebrating Educational Opportunities for Hispanic Students Conference, this event is a collaborative effort of the Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Texas school board associations. The 2011 conference, hosted by New Mexico, will provide attendees an opportunity to do the following:
*Engage in courageous conversations about how to meet the educational
needs of all children.
*Hear about ways to create pathways to success for both students and staff.
*Learn from other leadership teams proven best practices for setting direction
and policy for our schools.
*Join school board members and administrators from across the Southwest as
we showcase successful student achievement programs and discuss the latest
educational trends and innovations.

Registration
The registration
form is now available. The registration fee is $225 on or before April 15, 2011. The fee changes to $250 on April 16, 2011. Registration can be paid by check or Purchase Order. Please call 505-983-5041 for confirmation of your registration or e-mail Carolyn at cmole@nmsba.org.
Keynote Presentations
Friday keynote: Susan Herrera, CEO of the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Foundation will present an overview of the possibility of private partnerships with local, state and national philanthropic foundations to improve student learning and opportunities. She will share information on partnerships of the LANL Foundation and the newest initiative - the Northen NM Inquiry Science Education Consortium (ISEC).
Saturday keynotes confirmed: Pedro Noguera, PhD, a professor at the New York University and Executive Director of the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development. His scholarship and research focuses on the ways in which schools are influenced by social and economic conditions in the US, Caribbean, Latin America and other countries throughout the world. His message of pursuing equity and excellence resonates with any district that serves a diverse population.
Also, Anthony J. Trujillo, retired superintendent. Mr. Trujillo earned degrees from the University of san Francisco and Stanford University. As a superintendent of the Ysleta Independent School District in El Paso, Texas the district went from the lowest performing district to the highest performing district in Texas. He will speak on raising achievement and saving the dropouts in schools.
Housing
NMSBA has secured a block of rooms for $107.50 single/double occupancy plus $8 daily parking fee (if applicable) plus tax. The Eldorado Hotel is located at 309 W. San Francisco St, Santa Fe, NM 87501. You can make reservations by calling (800) 955-4455 or (505) 988-4455, and inform the reservations department that you will be attending the 2011 Celebrating Educational Opportunities for Students of All Cultures Conference. Please note that rooms are available on a first-come-first-serve basis and once the room block is filled (which may be before the deadline) rooms may be still be available, but only at regular rates.
The alternate hotel is the Hilton Santa Fe Historic Plaza which is on the same block and a short walking distance to the conference hotel. The Hilton is located at 100 Sandoval St, Santa Fe, NM 87501. You can make reservations by calling direct at (505) 988-2811. (Please note: there is another Santa Fe Hilton with a golf course and casino - this is NOT the Historic Plaza Hilton. The Historic Santa Fe Hilton is the one within walking distance of the conference.)
Guests
Additional meal tickets may be purchased for guests who would like to attend the breakfast or lunch function with a conference registrant. Breakfast tickets cost $24 per day and Lunch tickets cost $30 per day. Note: Purchase of a meal ticket does not provide guest access to any other conference activities.
Cancellation Information
Conference cancellations must be made in writing to NMSBA. If you register but are unable to attend the conference, the following terms apply:
100% refund available until April 7, 2011
50% refund available between April 8 and 14, 2011
Substitutions allowed until April 22, 2011
No substitutions or refunds after April 22, 2011.
